Is This Ok Or Not (please I Need Your Advice) Posted: 01-15-04 09:38am
My husband and I are adopting a child, I
dont work cause im disabbled,my friend
brought the idea of having a party for the
child to introduce him or her into the
family(will be older child)then she said
why not make it into a shower so the child
will get clothes,toys ,school supplies
etc.We never had a child so we have
nothing but love to give. Were not broke we
live pay to pay like other people what im
asking is ,is it rude to ask of such a
thing for people to bring gifts. And also
how would you ask people to do so. Thank
you for your advice :

I think its definitely okay to have a
welcome home shower. I mean your
introducing this child into your family.
Why not? I would assume people would
bring gifts to any other kind of
party/shower why not this one.
Congratulations on the new family member.

What a wonderful idea both for you and
your child as long as the child doesn't
feel overwhelmed by all the attention.
Some children don't like to be the centre
of attraction but you will know that
yourself. Good luck and have a wonderful
day

When my cousin adopted her daughter the
family threw her a baby shower and
everyone brought gifts. It was an excuse
to get the family together, to meet the
new baby and to help out the new family.
I think its a great idea
