Q: Moderate pain in the Epigastric region, Burping, and urge to
asked by: DoctorQuestion on June 19th, 2006
I've had a moderate pain in the epigastric region for 12 hours, accompanied by burping and an urge to vomit. The pain is worse when I seat. I have been on acid reflux medication for 7days as a precaution by my doctor. But this pain is not new I had it before - and last for days. What can it be?

The pain you are experiencing probably originates from the stomach. The symptoms you describe can be caused by inflammation (gastritis), peptic ulcer(s), or hiatus hernia. A tumor is also possible, but only in rare cases. You can request a gastroscopy. You may also be prescribed trospium(2X1), ranitidine(2X1) and metoclopramide(3X1).
