Antacids?

Am at worked and have just learned about the baking soda approach. Have indocid with me, but sadly - baking soda is not something I typically keep in my desk drawers.

What I do have with me today is:
lemon juice (and plenty of it)
rolaids (the economy-size jar)

any advice?

Should I take some of the rolaids and hope that the alkalizing effects will override the potassium in the suckers?

Should I drink some lemon juice & hot water to see if there's any relief there?

Should I just wait until the end of the day when I can leave and get my mitts on some baking soda?

This is my 3rd or 4th go-round with gout in about 5 years. I've been totally overinduldging during a wedding over the weekend. Lots of alchohol. Lots of sugar, lots of asparagus, lots and lots of diet pop, lots and lots of nicotine to boot.

Because i've got the indocid to keep the pain and swelling down - i'm willing to try something new. Does anyone know if rolaids are an acceptable substitute for baking soda.

Thanks so much for the help. I'm hurtin' pretty bad today!

If you are trying to raise ph you don't want to drink lemon juice. It has a ph of about 2 and the baking soda is used to raise ph.

I don't know what you are looking to do but both things you have are total oposites.
