This is a blood clotting disorder that causes me to miscarry any time before I hit 3mo. If I don't take a blood thinner shot every day i'm pregnent. It doesn't effect me in any other way but miscarrages. I don't get enoungh blood to uterus. I have has 6 misscarrages already. Then I went to a great doctor who finally found the problem. It is a new find. A lot of ppl may have it and the docs can't understand why the patient keeps miscarrying. But since the find....I have had a lil girl who will be 1 jan.30!!. And i'm preg again. No this one was not planned. And no -lol-we are not trying to make up fr lost times. But if any one has it plz don't hestiate e-mailing me with questions. I wish I had some one to talk to. It is very stressful mantally. But hope every one is haveing a great day/night.

Antiphospholipid antibodies and positive ana
posted: 07-28-04 1:35pm

------------------------------------------ --------------------------------------

in 1999 I had a "normal" pregnancy and delivered a perfectly healthy, beautiful daughter. My husband and I decided for another when she turned 2. Last year I suffered my third miscarriage, and finally my doctor was able to test for abnormalities and other things which could be the cause. I have been diagnosed with positive ana and antiphospholipid antibodies. Both of which hinder a pregnancy. They do not know what caused this to come on. On father's day this year, I found out I was pregnant again. My husband and I were both excited and anxious. Hoping everything would be ok and we, after all the medical hub-bub would have a healthy baby to bring home to it's big sister. My doctor and specialist put me on a baby asparin every day along with progesterone suppositories, then started me on heparin injections. We had an ultra sound on july 6th and got a strong heartbeat. I began bleeding wed night and instantly knew in my heart something was wrong. I called my ob/gyn and she told me it could be caused by the heparin injections, to put myself in bed and not get up until the ultra sound she had me scheduled for the next day. I went through this all before, I had myself ready for the bad news, even though my husband was begging me to be optimistic. Turns out I was right, the baby had passed and we have now went through 4 miscarriages in the last couple of years. To say the least we are devastated. I am told that with each pregnancy and/or loss that my immune system will be affected. I am curious if anyone out there has been diagnosed with the same auto-immune disease. I know it is unlikely that I will now have another child, as each loss makes it harder and harder for me to conceive. I just want answers.......

Thanks,
lisa

Antiphospholipid Syndrome
I was diagnosed with aps at 23yrs, now 37yrs I would love to have another child. The first pregnancy went ok. Injections every day, my son was delivered 7 1/5wks early. He was in hospital for 6wks and I was in for 4wks. I was in intensive care for 4days. My son is now medically perfect at the age of 5 1/2yrs.
I have been talking to my specialist in perth (australia), he says I would be at a very high risk if I tried for another baby.
I have been searching the internet trying to find out if there has been any break throughs in a cure or anything to give me some hope of having another child.
Has anyone heard of anything????????
