Hi fsp001,
i am very sorry you are in pain and can't
take colchicine, nsaids (indomethacin),
and corticosteroids (also called steroids,
the synthesized cortisol). The
alternative treatments for the pain from
gout attacks are: (a) adrenocorticotropic
hormone (acth) injection, and (2) narcotic
pain relievers.
The fact that you have high blood uric
acid level (hyperuricemia) does not
necessarily mean you have gout. There
are many diseases that mimic gout. If
you haven't already done so, you need to
test the joint fluid for monosodium urate
(msu) crystals to definitely diagnose
gout.
For gout to heal, you need to keep the msu
level stable at the joints. This can be
achieved by dividing the daily dosage of
allopurinol in half and take it every 12
hours (check with your doctor first);
avoid consuming acidic foods and drinks
including alcohol, acidic fruits and
juices, soda drinks; ... More gout info

Good luck and take care.
