Q: Hard Glands For Months

Hi everyone.

My problem is that under my jaw, near the middle about an inch from my neck, I have a thumb tip size hard gland on either side a little way under the skin, one came up about four months ago, the other about two months ago, they came up over a few weeks and have never caused me any pain but refuse to go away. I saw the doc after two months, he just dismissed it without any real explanation, now I am wondering if it worth me going back again, can glands stay up this long? He noted that the first one came up about the same time as some cold sores, but everything I have read on the internet says(and I apreciate reading is not always a good thing) that they should go down in a matter of weeks after the infection goes.
If anyone else has had a similar problem I would greatly apreciate some advice.

Kinds regards, chris.
