Hehe, I hope im doing this right, its my first reply.... So here we go.

It depends on where you got it done. You see when they pierce your cartilage they are supposed to use a hollow needle so that the extra skin is removed, wal mart does not do this - however they may have changed since I got my first one done. But if you went to a body piercing studio then most likly they use hollow needles so id go back and talk to them about it.

I have one ear with the bump and the other without. It doesnt bother me so I dont really think about it.

hey i have my cartilage pierced and i have the same exact thing. I do not think it will go away. The only possible way it 1. to have the extra skin removed or 2. let the ear close up. Also the bump is normal almost everyone who gets their cartilage pierced has the bumps. Its nothing to sweat.
