Q: Does She Weigh Too Much?

My daughter will be 8 months on the 26th of this month, and she weighs 22 lbs. She is on 2nd foods; and she eats a bowl of rice and a fruit for breakfast, a vegtable and a fruit for lunch, and a dinner and a dessert for dinner. And she gets a 5 oz. Bottle of formula with every feeding and one in between feedings. Am I feeding her too much? Is she overweight for her age?

Most of the advice I have been given is to listen to your child, especially when it comes to feedings. It sounds like she is very healthy. My daughter is 4 1/2 months old and weighs 18 lbs. I breastfeed 6 times per day, give her one 4 oz. Bottle of formula and rice cereal once a day as well. This may be too much for some, not enough for others, but it's just right for her.
