I had this feeling for 2 days now ,hot at the back of the left knee , lasts seconds .i as talking to my brother-in -law about it and he has it as well , only longer periods ,he thought he had sat on a damp rag, there must be a lot of it about ,whatever it is.
Anyone who has a medical answer for this would be appreciated. I have read everyone's symptoms and they sound similar. I have the same issue... cold/hot sensation in the right hip area. Not cold or warm to the touch. There is no pain, redness or swelling associated with it. The symptoms are intermittent and there is no rhyme or reason to explain when I have them. All help is appreciated this, but if an md has diagnosed and treated you I would love to know what this might be.
I had the same hot feeling on my thigh, under my feet, no pain no numbness. I went off all unnecessary medication. My sugar and cholestrol levels were slightly higher than normal.
I immediately went off all unnecessary medication (prescribed by myself LOL. Brought my sugar and cholestrol levels back to normal and Believe it or Not the Hot feeling totally disappeared. Its been like a year so far and absolutely NOTHING.
I have the same feeling on my left side for a month already. At first I thought is was a infection, I stop drinking cokes but the pain was still there. It starts on my back runs across my back and down my leg. My back is hot and my leg feels cold. Not to scare anyone but this is what they told me. The doctor is sending me for an MRI because he thinks it could be MS. We have nerves in our spine that send signals to our brain that regulates our body tempetature. An MRI will show the damaged nerve either that or it could be a tumor. Either way not anything nice. If you are feeling this I would go to the doctor and check it out soon. I have an appt with a neurologist this week. I will post his findings.
I had this exact problem a few years back. It felt like warm water being poured down my leg. The sensation was random but happend many times a day. I went to the emergency room after a few days to have a doctor look at it. The doctor explained that my leg muscles were slightly constricting blood flow to the main vein in my leg. When I would feel the warm sensation, it was blood rushing through the veins refilling them. He said that it would go away, and it did a few weeks later. In my case, it was no big deal, although a little scary.
I'm pregnant with the same symptoms... I believe it has everything to do with a pressure to a nerve, in this case caused by the baby. I would go get it checked, if I wasn't pregnant because it would most likely be something else pressing on a nerve that shouldn't be normally happening.
I had a car crash in 2005 and since then I have had really bad lower back pain and a pain traveling in to my right buttock and down my right leg I think it feels like bad sun burn on my thigh but pins and needles all the way down to my foot. I am on so many painkillers I rattle I have just been put on morphine. I can not lay on my back or my right side, I find it easyier to sleep sat up in a chair. I have had 5 mri and no one can tell me why I am in so much pain please can anyone help?
I have this hot feeling running down the inside of my leg from the calf area down to above the ankle. Is not constant, just occasional. Same feeling as if someone poured hot water down my leg, then it goes away. I am 63 and a female. Spoke to a nurseline through my health care program, and she has no answer. Just says if it gets worse to consult a physician.
This has been helpful - I am experiencing the same thing the Icy-hot feeling, no pain, above my groin area towards my left leg.
I spoke with a physical therapist and she thinks that is a combination of things: stressed nerve... cause ... we would have to do a more in depth exam. The good part is... if we don't experience pain... it is a some what of a good thing ... but don't ignore it - she says.
Her suggestion was to Ice it the whole area for at least a week - the warm feeling is a sign that something is inflamed.
Take muscle relaxant and avoid stressing the area, light stretches are also suggested ... if you are experience tightness. (Which I am)
I hope this help some... good luck!
BURNING FEELING IN LEG, BAD BACK, ANYONE KNOW OF THIS OR TERM &q
I've had 3 falls in the past month, the last one had me at the emerg. room cause i was in so much pain. x-rays showed i have bulging disc's and at these disc's they are also almost laying down on top of each other. i've seen my doctor, a chiropractor, neurosurgeon and a orthopedic. on the way to the orthopedic doctors apt. (actually going to a orothopedic for a shot of cortizone in my hip) i had severe burning down my left leg which has been killing me since my fall. hurts from back of my hip to almost my knee. the pain felt like i had a severe sunburn or someone was ripping my skin off! then when i got there it felt like a burning hot pile of coals were sitting at te l4-l5 disc area. the oropedic doc. had x-rays done of my spine and hip. she was very concerned of my back and told me she wants a mri of my back done since there hasn't been one since i fell and wants me to see a spine specialist. she thinks the pain in my legs is from y back but was puzzled over the burning feeling. my little sister has had a bad back seems forever and she had the same thing. she said it's called a "hot wire" and you can feel a "rope" going down yor leg (i do). anyone hear or this or know more?
I have been getting the same warm feeling for 7 years now, a year before I had my first baby. I was 40 when I had him. I get the feeling on my left hip and then my right hip for a day or two, a month or 3 months later on my other hip. Then a year later I had it run down the back of my leg, and then a few months later down the other leg. It also feels like a peed in my pants. But I can guarantee you I did not. I dont think it is sciatica. I think it has something to do with circulation. Bad Circulation. I was in a car accident 8 months before I started getting the warm feelings, so it might be that the accident did something to my spine, as I am still suffering from bad whiplash. Did Physiotherapy for 5 years, no help. Any advice would be welcome. I thought maybe I was going through menospause, now I dont think so if there are men with the same symptoms.
i have been having that same feeling all day..i got it once before..i get it one my left upper thigh..it comes and goes. its like a icy hot feeling but it feels normal when i touch there,, i just recently got diagnosed with ms... do u think its a symptom?
I don't know you people believe it or not, but our body gives us different sign that somethings is going wrong inside, like temperature difference in the upper and lower body, some people feel excessive cold in the lower parts especially in the legs while other find cold around head, chest and hands.
What you are telling is also a type of uneven body temperature but of specific area in the leg. It can be related to unusual blood flow (difference in its content or speed). Or it may have some other possible causes.
Sciatica .. hot tap feeling and some answers for you..
I was having exactly the same issue with the warm water feeling.. and then in a matter of months started experiencing a burning pain in my lower back, my back would just freeze up when i moved and I couldn't sit or lay down comfortably. I was also experiencing tingling down my arms and in my feet. I went to see my GP who scheduled an xray which showed little and then an MRI which showed a disc bulge. I was referred to a surgeon who scheduled spinal surgery and I had a double discectomy and laminectomy. It turned out my disc was almost 2" into my spinal cord and was pressing on my nerve causing all of my symptoms.
The hot-tap feeing or burning in the legs and /or hip is most likely caused by something pressing on the nerve and the nerve sending referred signals i.e. sciatica.
If you are concerned and if the feeling does not go away by itself or you having tingling and it keeps reoccurring I highly suggest you see your doctor as this can be a symptom of an underlying issue which may in time get worse and you will need to keep an eye on it.
If, like one of the above posts you are losing control of your bladder or bowels this is very serious and you should definitely consult your doctor as soon as possible as this is a sure sign that you spinal cord is suffering in a major way which can lead to long term damage and even paralysis.
I am 35 and my operation was 5 years ago and I am better shape now than I have ever been and get to the gym 4 times a week. Surgery is not the answer for everyone but if you get to the point of surgery, make sure they are a great surgeon!
I suggest you all consult your physicians if you are concerned and as with all things gentle exercise can do great things.. its move it or lose it!
These posts have been helpful, but now I'm really scared. A few weeks ago, my right hand started getting really cold; freezing to the point that it hurt to move it while my left hand was perfectly fine. I could even put my hands on someone's arm and they were shcoh=ked by the difference of warm/ normal for the left and freezing for the right. It would ache so bad...and it happens in different areas of the house and even at other people's homes. My husband said that it sounded like a circulation problem, which makes no sense to be since my hands are in the same positions, doing the same things when it happens. Then, tonight, I'm in a store checking out, and I feel this hot sensation in the middle of my back leg. It felt like I had used the bathroom on myself (I hadn't) and it kept on for almost an hour! It is also on the same side of the hand that gets super cold! I'm in great shape, no high blood pressure, or anything. Now, I'm freaking out!!!
Thanks to everyone who posted here, I am relieved that I have evidence and the doctor therefore cannot single me out as a nutcase.
Mine is the "hot water" feeling on my hip, as if hot water spilled in my jeans pocket. It lasts for about 10 seconds, and it comes and goes with no explanation. It can happen any time of day and doesn't matter whether I'm sitting, standing or whatever.
