I had this procedure done 5 days ago. Although the procedure itself was relatively straight forward and painless my left testicle has been hurting more than usual since and also left side of my scrotum is swelling up sometimes. Also I have had some pain in my side and back. Doc says I need to wait another week for things to calm down.

Anyone else had this done?

I had my surgery done while in the navy and I was under general ansethesia. No need for me to do anything but lay there and get fixed.

Took about 2 weeks to recover from the incision(sp) but othewise the varicocele was fixed.

I still have chronic epididmitus and that hurts like crazy!

My Experience With Vericocele
My experience has been bad.

I have had a severe vericocele (left testi) for years now. My scrotum cannot regulate the tempurature. Because of this I am in constant pain when sitting or laying down.

Recently I had a procedure done called a varicocele embolization (they put a catheder in my right side right above my groin, they used local painkiller and I was also lightly sedatided)i felt no pain during the surgery. This was a minor surgery that took an hour to do. They put some little things in my vein to help distribute the blood to healthier veins. I have noticed nothing new besides pain. More pain, to be frank and its very distressing, I am at a loss what to do, I was treated as if I had a normal varicocele but something is not right here.

The tempurature is the main thing, besides the fact that the veins are big and uncomfortable, now very sensitive and painful, I cannot function as I did before this whole mess. Is there anyone else out there who has my condition? I don't even know exactly what is going on but I know that I just want the pain to go away. Help...

I know everyone is different so dont assume that your experience will be the same, but if it is similar I would like to know all about it, I am in dire need for knowledge as this is effecting my everyday - phycologically and phyically.

Does Anyone Else Have Tempurature Issues In Their Scrotum?
I think this is the discerning factor in my case. I asked the doctor and he said he didn't know about it (or something to that effect) does anyone else have a condition where their scrotum is always really hot/ it doesnt move the testies around like it used to? This effects my sleep and my sitting. I cannot sleep on my side or front- I have to sleep on my back and have my legs apart (my legs seem to add to the heat) I also find myself shifting a lot when I sit and I sit in strange postitions (legs apart-more so that one would normally sit) is there anyone else experiencing this?

Hi! I had major varicocele in my left testes at the age of 26. I am 33 now.
6 months after the open surgery (in india) the varicocle recurred. I started having slight pain(pulsating) once a month but for a very short duration. I have been particular in wearing tight underwears(very uncomfortable though) and that kept my pain in bay. Its been 4 years of marriage now and the varicocele is striking my fertility. I got myself examined again today and the doc told me that my left varicocele needs to be operated again. I told him that it does cause me discomfort but is still manageable. According to him if this is left untreated then the toxins produced due to this can cause variocele in right testes.

Don't Know What to Think
Hi I was diagnosed with a varicocele by my gp after having an ultrasound.
Yesterday I went to a urologist, finally. He told me that I probably don't need an operation. The problem is I am in a lot of pain, ususally when I lift anytjing heavy or try playing soccer or hockey.
Through research I assumed thier is an opperation to fix the problem but the impression I got from the urologist is I have to live with this. He is sending me for another ultrasound at ubc however,to find out if it is what is cuasing the pain. I am 41 and live in the "outdoor recreation capital of canada" and do not want to give up my active, albeit on hiatus, lifestyle.

Any thoughts
