My husband had severe pain in his right lower jaw area. Dentist said he needed 2 root canals. Day after root canals severe swelling he was sent to an oral surgeon they put a drain in. After 1 week swelling was still there endodontist suggested extraction of tooth #30 due to a crack. Extraction was done. It is now 2 weeks later swelling is back and curetting is done. Surgeon said there was granulation there but good blood supply to the bone. Now bone graft will have to be done. Possible osteomyelitis. He is on clindamyacin. This has been on going now for 6 weeks. I feel he is not being diagnosed properly and they don't really know what's wrong. Any suggestions???? Karis

So Sorry For All Your Hubbys Pain!

Karis, I am just now finding your message on the board. I am really sorry for all the trouble and pain your poor husband has had to endure. If it were me, I would be calling around to find a more professional dentist/ oral surgeon. Your husband has been put thru hte wringer and is still haging out to dry ( in a manner of words). I have been thru my share of dentist and pain. It seems to me, once the xrays were taken, why was your husband given the false hope of trying to save this tooth (root canal etc) instead of them just saying, it woud be best to extract it. Why was this "crack" not noticed to begin with? Now, he is on antibiotics for infection and he is swollen and in pain.......... Maybe you need a lawyer......I wish you and your husband all the luck in the world. Keep us posted!
