I am new to this place but I have a really important question. I got a tampon stuck inside me and I was so scared I could not get it out. It was stuck for a week or more. I had this really bad smell and everything. I am a little tender in my tummy now but the smell and everything has gone away...Do you think I should go to the doctor and will it effect my chances of having children latter on?
Scared and stupid,
alley

You are not stupid!! You are just young & inexperienced. You do need to see a dr or go to the er (whatever is easiest for you) because you could have an infection inside or even some of the tampon left behind either of which could have serious long term effects if not cleaned out properly. You should never leave a tampon in more than 8 to 12 hours for these reasons.

Good luck & take care it's better to ask for help & be embarrassed than end up unable to havea baby or with toxic shock etc.

In my sophmore year of college, the same thing happened to my roommate. A week and a half after her period ended she was going to the bathroom and the tampon came out. It scared her and she went straight to the health clinic on campus. They did an exam to make sure everything was out and put her on antibiotics in case of infection. She ended up being fine. You definitely need to go to the doctor. Chances are you are fine now that it is out but you need to make sure.

Not to be gross but how did it get stuck? And how did it just come out? I feel for you. At least you got it out without surgery! I hope you're ok.

Thanks
I don't remember when it got stuck or even it getting stuck. I just know I started cramping and smelt really bad. I felt inside myself because I had this feeling and felt it deep inside myself. I got it out myself which thinking on it I got drunk with my b/f and we had sex while I was on my period...I thought I took it out but like I said I was drunk and could have just thought I took it out. In any case I can't afford to go to the Dr...All they would do is check to see if any tampon is left and put me on antibiotics which I have a 12 day supply of some augmenton I think. I am starting that tomorrow...Since my took out the tampon I have started to bleed bright red now...Not the dark brown so could that be my body flushing itself or can the tampon cause a sore inside me. I hope this isn't too gross. I am jsut scared adn I don't know who to trust or to turn to.
Thanks for all you guys' support!

15 And Scared
I have a 15 year old daughter. If something like that happened to her I would take her to the Dr. Immediatedly. I don't want to scare you. I am not a medical expert, just a concerned mom. I think you must tell someone. A school nurse, a counselor, your mom?, a friends mom. Please don't wait too long. Toxic shock syndrome is a very serious condition as are infections. Good luck and I am praying for you.

Health Clinics
There must be some free health clinics that you could go to. I guess i'm really lucky because I live in canada and it doesn't cost anything to see a doctor or go to the emergency room or after hours clincs or sexual health clinics. But where ever you live there must be some type of sexual health clinic at least, have you tried to see if there are any government run clinics? Either way whatever the cost you definitely need to see a doctor!!!
