Q: Pre-teen Athlete Experiencing Pain and Difficulty Breathing
asked by: DoctorQuestion on June 10th, 2006
My daughter has a pain under her left rib cage for over 2 days now. She feels the pain when berthing in. It started last Friday after coming from a Gym training. Pian increased and went to a hospital. They examined and found nothing. Pain killers were given, pain decreased to 3/10 (from 9/10). She is at home and for last 2 days she has persistence pain (around (7/10). Pain is low when left leg is folded. She has a sore throat and a little high temperature. She is generally very healthy girl. What it could be? What should we do?

You can request further examinations for your daughter such as an ECG and an X-ray image of the chest. Standard blood/urine analyses are also recommended . I can’t speculate about possible disorders without certain analyses and examinations. You can try to find a diagnosis through a pediatric physician, as well.
