Q: Constant Headache For 18+months, Neck Pain, Unusual Carotid

I have had a constant headache (no kidding) for 18 months, neck pain, pins and needles sensations in my left side, dizziness, memory problems, etc. All of my tests have been "normal" (blood tests, spinal taps, mri's, etc.) except I had an ultrasound of my carotids that did not show stenosis, however my blood velocity was equivalent to having a 50%-70% blockage, an eeg of the brain revealed "diffuse slowing" and a recent mra of my carotids revealed a "focal irregularity of the left external carotid artery proximally."

my question is could my symptoms be related to problems with my carotid? No doctor so far has shown much interest in this theory but to me it seems to be the only lead! Also, what does a "focal irregularity" of the carotid mean? Any help would be sincerely appreciated.

Thank you so much!
Leslie

I remember being a "walking headache". I tried everything...And tests up the wazoo. Nothing worked. I finally tried seeing a chiropractor and now it's rare that I have a headache. It has helped so much!

Walking Headache
After reading all these messages about headaches I feel relieved that im not alone! I have suffered from daily headaches for the last 9 months and am worried something is wrong. My doctor has put it down to stress as I am unhappy at work ( and have tension in my shoulders and neck) , but surely this isnt normal??

Extremely eHealthy
I am not a dr but I use to suffer and still sometimes due suffer from headaches(migranes) to the point of nausea. Everyone is different, my opinion is that sometimes they can be caused from stress, diet, light sesitivity, a pinched nerve in the neck and many more factors. I used to have to go to bed with an immitrex and a promethazine at onset of a migraine. If you are not happy with the results you are getting, talk to your primary care physician and see if he can give you a referral to another Dr. Until you get some answers. Maybe someone else has some better answers here that can help you more.
All the best!
