Q: I'm Married!

So I got married today. We're keeping it a secret but I have to tell someone so I had to post. It was very surreal. We went to this woman's house and she said "are you going to exchange rings?" and we told her no, because this is a secret and we just want it quick and casual. So she asked if we even wanted a ceremony and we said no, not really. So it went a little something like this... "nick, do you want to marry bridget?" of course he said yes. "bridget, do you want to marry nick?" duh... "blahblahblah, you're married". We paid her and left. Crazy!

Ooooo romantic. That's adorable! When are you going to tell? Do you guys plan on having a ceremony one day? (i get it not making the ceremony be a big thing, marriage is the rest of your life, hopefully, a wedding is just one day so why spend a fortune on going fancy.)

i'm happy for you!

Well, it wasn't really sudden. We got the marriage license about 2 weeks ago and had an appointment to meet with this woman today. We're planning on having a big wedding next year sometime so we didn't want to do anything special today. So hopefully my parents will never find out (i can't think of any reason why they would) because if they did my mom would be crushed. And even though we're not considering ourselves married i'm still excited and had to share. Now I can start referring to him as my husband (so weird) on here!

We've been together a little over a year and a half which I guess isn't very long but i've pretty much known all along that he was *the one*. We've been engaged for over a year and living together since 2 months after we met. He's the love of my life and I can't imagine ever being with anyone else. He's my heart.

Congrats. & your wedding sounds fantastic!! Great idea too, if I might add.

Thank god i'm not getting married anytime soon. I have no original ideas running through my mind... All I know is that I want it to project my fiance & i's personalities... A lot.

Ok I have to ask (just because i'm nosey)...

Why did you do it that way? Is there some benefit to being married like on your insurance or something?

I'm just curious as you say you plan on having a "wedding" next year anyway.

I've got no problem with it and i'm not having a dig, it's just something I don't understand.

But, congrats. I'm glad it makes you happy and that's what counts

i won't be getting married anyway because of our views on religion and stuff.

yeah, we got married early so I could be on his insurance. I have medicaid right now and we're going to be moving to a different state when i'm about 34 weeks along so rather than go through the hassle of getting new healthcare i'm just going to be put on his. It'll also make things easier after the baby is born and also he can now claim me as a dependant on his taxes. But mainly we did it for the insurance purposes. Kind of silly but you gotta do what you gotta do.

That's what my mom and dad did.

He paid less tax by being married to my mom than otherwise he would have had to pay.
Makes sense really especially with moving state and stuff.

I'm pleased for you because I can tell this makes you happy :)

Congratulations!!! (in a secret little way cause you're not telling people except us. Lol)

i'm doing the same, sort of. My bf and I are getting married by a justice of the peace on july 4 (our anniversary). No big wedding or anything. But we're doing it because we want to be married before the baby is born. I know it doesn't matter, and we don't think it would be bad to not be married before then, but it's kind of important to us just to all have the same last name, ya know? Also, the insurance and tax benefits aren't a bad side-effect. Lol

Thanks everyone!

I'm doing well, sam. I'm halfway there! Finally! Now that i'm at 20 weeks it doesn't seem like it's been creeping along but now i'm sure the next 20 weeks will. I'm still waiting to feel movement and it's killing me. I hope everything is ok... I'm sure it is but I get paranoid. Oh well, nothing to do but wait for movement and my next appointment in 2 weeks. I don't know if you saw my post from a couple weeks ago but it's a boy!

How are you and ethan?

I'm glad you are doing well. Are you happy it's a boy? I'm sure you'll feel the little guy move soon, I didn't feel ethan move until a little after 20 weeks. Ethan and I are doing pretty good..I'm pretty exhausted though. He's already a month and a day old..Can you believe it??
