Q: 2 Sacs??? One With No Heart Beat. What Does This Mean??

I went for an ultasound on sunday. The woman told me she thought there were 2 sacs. Indicating that there were 2 babies. I called my doc today to find out what this meant. She told me that at one time there were 2 but one didnt form but the other had a normal heartbeat and was doing well. What is my body going to do with the other that hasnt formed? Will this jepordize the health of the other?? Help I need answers and dont see the doctor again till feb 4th. Does anyone know??

I'm not completely sure, but I beleive I heard that your body will take care of the baby that did not form and if it doesn't then the doctor will talk about what needs to be done. But dont' stress yet, cuz if he felt there was a major medical problem putting your baby at risk, he would have let you know.

Good luck,

Still no bleeding. They did an ultrasound at not quite 8 weeks. I am now almost 10. No bleeding. If there was something wrong with the second baby would s/he not have aborted itself by now?? Confused.

Ask your dr next week to be sure but I think that when your dr said the other sac didn't form properly it meant that the "matter" would have beentaken up by the body or perhaps expelled without you even knowing, otherwise the dr would I believe have told you what to expect etc. Just trust, the main thing is that you look after yourself for the baby you're having.

The doctor keeps asking if I am bleeding and told me when I do that I am suppost to go directly to the hospital. Could it have been to early for them to detect a a heartbeat. It was only seven weeks. Maybe one had a heartbeat and the other didnt?? Yet??

Hello
I don't intend to scare you but a close friend of mine went through the same thing and with the child that did live , she suffered complications, she formed extra body parts, but my friend was futher along then you are. There could be a possiblity that the 2nd heartbeat hasn't been detected. Your body will most likely discard the 2nd sac when you deliver. But im not sure though

Second Sac
While I was pregnant I did alot of reading and I did read about this problem. I've seen many articles say that the sac just dissolves. It's called dissapearing twin. The other baby will just absorb the other sac. And that dosent mean complications will occur at all. Ive read about this happening to women and having very healthy babies. As a matter of fact all the articles I read...All the babies were born perfectly fine. The other sac just dissapeard. Sweetie..Please don't worry..Your going to do more harm stressing yourself out and worrying. The doc probably just wants you to come in if you bleed because your body is probably going to expell the sac that hasn't formed. And he will just want to make sure the other baby isn't being harmed at all. Cheer up and enjoy your pregnancy! :p

Still no bleeding. When do you start to feel movement?? Ive expressed my concerns to the doctor about the second sac. She has made an appointment for an ultra sound but not till the second week in april. Which seems soooo far away. She did the doppler thing at 11 weeks with no luck. She said it could be too early and that at my next appt. We'd be able to hear a heartbeat(or 2). Still I cant help but worry. And one more thing, im 13 weeks now....When do I start to get my energy back???

My cousin was told she was having twins in august. There were two sacs and two seperate heartbeats. At 20 weeks she had an ultrasound and they discovered that one of the twins had not survived, it was very small, but the other baby was growing fine. Then just a couple of weeks ago her son was born perfectly healthy, 10 fingers, 10 toes, everything where it should be. The other baby was delivered, it was very tiny, but it did not affect the healthy baby. Any time in pregnancy if you start to bleed you should go to the hospital. Don't stress, and about the movement, sometimes you feel movement at 15-16 weeks, sometimes not till 20 weeks, everyone is different, especially if this is your first pregnancy. It feels like gas bubbles.
Hang in there hon, try not to stress yourself out!

Nicole, your energy should come back anytime now. But remember you must burn energy to make energy. Unfortunantly the energy levels get strange in your third trimester also they go up n down up n down sometimes with extreems. Take it easy, dont stress yourself it sounds like you and your baby are going to be fine. Time will tell, until then just relax and take care of yourself. Your doc would probably tell you if the baby wasnt going to make it. And like the above said, I have also read about this and in most cases everything will be ok. Smile
