Hi. I have recently been diagnosed wikth having blepharitis. I am allergic to most prescribed drugs-they have totally inflamed my eyes. I am hoping some one could recommend alternative remedies that I could try.

Blepharitis
Do a google search for blepharitis "castor oil" - the latter cleared my husband's blepharitis in 11 days - with noticeable improvement after 4 days.

Worth a try.
Good luck

New Product That Really Works
Hi to All Fellow Sufferers:

I've been battling blepharitis for over 3 years and seem to have bad breakouts (particularly under stress) that always turn into pink eye and chalazions. I have used baby shampoo, eye compresses, eye drops - antiobiotic and regular, and strong dandruff shampoos, etc. without a lot of success.

Recently, after researching on the internet the current blepharities medical studies going on, I ran across a product called Ocusoft Foaming Eyelid cleanser in one of the studies.

Anyway, I ordered a couple of bottles of the cleaner from the website of the company. After it arrived, I cut up washcloths into little squares, applied the foam and scrubbed the top and bottle lids lightly. Then I threw the little square out. At this point, I had been in the midst of a severe attack for over a month that had turned into pink eye. This foam is the first thing I have ever used that didn't irritate my eyes. So I used it about 5 times a day for three days and saw a little improvement by the fourth day and after a week, the attack had completely cleared up. I still am completely amazed. I was so thrilled, I took the bottle to my HMO's eye clinic and gave them a lecture on it and then went home and called the corporation and offered to be a salesperson for the product. Truly. After that, I stopped using the product for a week and noticed the red, oily eyelids reappearing again so started back using the Ocusoft 3 times a day. And in sheer laziness, I haven't done the hot compresses and it still seems to be working just fine without those. It is one month later and my eyes are just fine. YESSSSSS!

I promise you I am not an employee of this company. I am just a blepharitis sufferer who missed wearing her makeup and was tired of nothing working. I am just so thrilled by this stuff, that I purposely joined this forum to tell everyone about it. Please give it a try. And tip, I throw out my little square of washcloth after one use - no one told me too, I just did it.

I couldn't find it in any local grocery stores so I had to order directly online. I noticed they had a list of products for contact lens people. Also, the customer service rep told me they just got approval for an Ocusoft cleanser that will have a bacteria killer of some kind. I just checked the website and don't see it yet so it must not be released. I plan to order a bottle of that as soon as it is.

Hope this helps everyone as much as it helped me and want to shout it from the rooftops the way I am.

My heart to all of you dealing with this and keeping my fingers crossed that it works for you too.

BJC

I had meibomitis or blepharitis (a greasy dot in my eye lid -not very noticeable)My doctor told me to clean my eye lids each night with baby shampoo but my eyes were irritated always.. my poor eyes. Then I got the courage to stop cleaning them.. and the episodes of blepharitis (a dot of grease? that appear in my eyelid when I ate too much fat and I was exposed to the dust or dirt)were less often. By then I was taking 2 pills of omega3 a day and my eyelids were greasy (for the omega 3 intake) and I had a diagnostication of an infection of clamidia and I solved the the STD and the episodes of the blepharitis appeared less often .. like one a year or so .. and when that happened I avoided to eat much fats I mean any kind of it, specially the fats which are hydrogenated so I only eat chocolate of real cacao (not cheap versions of it) and when that happened to me I had a glass of alcohol and then somehow the blepharitis dot disappeared.. My case was related with too much intake of fats.
This 2 months I have been taking almost 0 alcohol but I always (as always) have my salads, 2 pieces of wheat bread in the day, etc but what I also added is a clove of garlic in the night, yes a sandwich of garlic and cheese or whatever.
I also avoid to use too much eyeliners or mascara over my eyelashes, etc.
And since 2 years also, I mean after the blepharitis appeared I am not a bulimic any more and maybe this also made a change.
I guess doctors have to be more sensitive , one or 2 told me that I had to learn to live with that and didn't discourage me to use make up for the eyes when I had the episodes of blepharitis.. so be careful with doctors and try the natural healings because is very likely that blepharitis or meibomitis occur when you are eating something not natural, doing something unnatural (bulimics provoke a disorder in their metabolism), eating bad fats (read the ingredients before eating), use of too much make up (and the eye liner is the worst of them as it can provoke blepharitis), or have an underlying infection with whom your body is already fighting, or you are too blue and stress can do "wonders" in the body creatig illness of different kind, so be positive! You are going to overcome it, don't have a doubt about it!!!!
Write your case in a paper, write what you eat, you do, when it happened, what was the temperature like, how much alcohol you had, when you had an episode of blepharitis, what triggers it for you. I have a notebook like this too and it was useful.
