Q: Is Light Spotting caused by Implantaion Bleeding?
asked by: DoctorQuestion on June 9th, 2006
I had my last normal period on April 17th, 2006 and I should have received the next period on May 21st. On May 31st, I noticed when I wiped myself there was blood. Sometimes it was brown and pinkish like and then sometimes red. I usually have very heavy periods but this is light and I don't have to wear pads. I mainly comes out when I wipe. I have been experiencing this for about 9 days now. I have been sleeping alot as well. I took a pregnancy test about 2 weeks ago and it was negative. Could this be implantation bleeding? How long should it last? I am very worried. Should I take another pregnancy test, if so, when is the best time?

It seems that you are not pregnant. You can take another pregnancy test to be certain. There is no such thing as “implantation bleeding”; it doesn't exist. There is some concern about your recent bleeding, however. You can go to your gynecologist to identify the cause for the bleeding. The spotting can be either functional or organic (tumor, infection, etc.). Lack of the period can also be caused by a hormonally active ovarian cyst.
