Q: Birth Control At My Age?

I am 50 years of age, and still have a menstrual cycle. The man in my life now is younger than i, and still very fertile. Is there a birth control out there that would be right for my age, other than a condom? At my age, do I really have a chance for pregnancy? Question will welcome any and all advise. Thank you.

You most certainly can fall pregnant that's the good news!! The bad news is that your chances of having a baby with physical & or mental problems is significant & there's a greater risk to your health.

Talk to your dr about the right option for you (have you considered having your tubes tied? -easier than remembering the pill, but neither has a 100% guarantee of preventing pregnancy no matter what anyone tells you.).

Good luck

You can get pregnant, and i'm sure it would not be healthy for someone of your age. You do need to get on something, but i'm not sure what...That would have to be discussed with a dr that is familiar with your health situation. How old is the man in your life? Just be careful!

I dont think getting tubes tied at that age would be good. I mean she could go through that surgery and maybe have gone through menapause a year later. So the surgery was basically for nothing. I would be sure that you could take any birth control. I would maybe ask the doctor about the shot?? (depo)

Update
I just wanted you all to know that I did go and see the doctor. No, I am not pregnant, but going through pre-menapouse. The doctor warned me to use birth control anyway during the first year, until I have had one full year of no periods. Seems the best route.
Thank you all for your advise and opinions. It means alot! Laughing
