I was recently diagnosed with interstitial cystitis... This is most commonly mis-diagnosed as recurring uti's..... If you have pain in your pelvic area or have been having recurring uti's or they don't seem to go away research this........ I urinate prob. 15-20 times a day and sometimes more... Ic is a painful bladder problem that has no cure and is not known where it comes from.... Cranberry juice is said to help with a uti it will make you feel worse if it is in fact interstitial cystitis! Anything with a lot of potassium or acid wil make it worse...Coffee, orange juice, cranberry juice, cola's etc... I am always in severe pain at this point. I was also just diagnosed with endometriosis. Hope this helps some of you... I am looking for a natural approach to help this pain I am in... Anyone with any useful information please respond! Or if you have any questions!

Hi
No pain is not always involved with ic! But what you describe does sound like it. The pressure and constant peeing. I have eliminated many things from my diet that seems to help some. I am looking for a natural approach in dealing with this rather than taking the rx drugs.

Im scared to be quite honest with you that I have something more seriousl he wants to do scans/.Xrays and tests.......

Did you have these:?

Don't Be Scared!
I take it one day at a time! I am in washington, us it is almost 11:00 am here now.... I have gone through a lot of tests..... I not only have interstitial cystitis I have endometriosis as well... I just had a laparoscopy proceedure done 3 weeks ago that diagnosed endometriosis. There is hope... If your urologist did a urine test that showed bacteria then hopefully it is just a uti! If not there are other things that can be done.

What Do You Think?
I am worried about not knowing what is going on with me?
I have been told for years and years that I have had uti's,
but know two different doctors say that they have not been all uti's.
I feel like I have to go all the time, when I do it burns, and smells.
My back flanks about where my kidneys are are in cronic pain all most all the time. The doctors say I should see a OBGYN about this. And then if they cant help go back to a uralogist agin. Witch he did nothing hardly to begin with. Twice I went in for a catheter to check to see if my bladder was emptying all the way? That was it pat on back and go home agin!
The pain is also in my lower abdomen makes me want to double over in pain.
What do I do, and do you share this same problems?

Confused

INTERSTITIAL CYSTITIS.
Is it at all possible that yeast infections cause interstitial cystitis?

sounds like what I had too
That sounds like how I was. Have you tried Waterfall D-Mannose at all? It's a natural product that flushes the bacteria out of your body when you pee. On thing I would have to reccomend if you do try it (since it worked for me) is that you try NOT to go as ofter when you get the urge. I did that too and it caused my bladder to shrink (which I understand is a common side effect) and so when you do get the urge, try to hold it in longer and that will help the bladder to maintain is correct size which will be good for you in the long run. Feel free to PM me if you think that I may be able to help more at all (if you feel comfortable doing so anyway).

Best wishes,

Chiyaki.

Hi sickgirl26,
I know u posted way back in Dec so u may not ever see this but what u described sounds awfully similar to what I experience. My dr.s are pretty convinced I have endometriosis and interstitial cystitis and some sort of inflammatory bowel disease, so I feel ur pain Wink u can have all 3 of these no matter how old u r (I'm 21 yrs old).

The endo and IC cause horrible horrible pain in the uterus & bladder area & lower back. The only way to diagnose IC is through a cystoscopy with hydrodistention of the bladder under general anesthesia. The only way to diagnose endo is through laparoscopy. A good urogynecologist can do both in the same visit. I highly recommend Dr. Eric Sokol at Stanford if you're anywhere near Palo Alto, Calif.

The pain in your "flank" area may actually be colon. I've had very severe chronic pain in my back/sides right under the ribs which my GP was convinced was a kidney infection but when that turned up negative she referred me to a gastroenterologist, who thinks the pain is actually from colon spasms. Many women with IC also have gastrointestinal disorders. I changed my diet and take Levsin which (somewhat) helps the side pain and bladder & uterus pain as it's an anti-spasmodic.

Good luck!! Smile

Jessi, you are wonderful! Finally, someone who understands that Cranberry is NOT the answer! Yes, it does make things much worse and yes, so does anything else that has an acidifying effect on the urine. The same DOES apply to UTIs too. Get some Waterfall D-Mannose as it acts as a natural anti-inflammatory as well as keeping those pesky, unwanted, UTI causing bacteria out of you which will also help to keep you irritations free.

I'll say it again... Jessi, you're wonderful! Very Happy

Chiyaki x
