Jon, brown discharge is pretty much (for the most part ok) if you and your girlfriend have had sex and you bumped the cervix she could have bled a little bit and it's probibly old blood and that is why it's brownish in color. Now if she has bright pink or red blood then you should have her call her doctor right away. If she is really worried aobut the brownish discharge she can call her ob-gyn and let them know and they will tell her what it is or isn't. I really don't believe that being 3.5 months that she will miscarry.

When in doubt call obgyn and let them set her mind at ease.

Discharge consisting of the color brown only means it is old blood . When you bleed and leave it wherever it fell it will turn brown. Its fresh bright blood she should be worried about. In any case that usually happens due to sex . Have you had sex a little rougher than usual?
