Laproscopic Procedure? Please, Need Help Asap Posted: 06-07-06 19:24pm
Hello, I recently made a post about me
possibly having appendicitis, and I was
wondering, how do they do a laproscopic
procedure? And are you put under when
they do it? Thanks for the help.

I'm going to answer your other other post
on this one as well.
I had alot of symptoms with my appendix,
but mine was in the wrong spot so I had
wierd stomach problems about a month prior
to finding it out.
My pain had only been going on for a few
days, but just had that wierd feeling it
was something bad. I would say do not go
to a regular doctor, just go the er.
They will do a cat scan with contrast,
which will show whether or not your
appendix is about to rupture. If they
catch it in time they can do it
laproscopic which is generally three small
slits. If it bursts, you get cut all the
way across your stomach. They basically
take out all your insides and clean them
and put them back in. It's way better to
be safe than sorry in this situation.
They will also do bloodwork and if it is a
really bad infection your white blood cell
cout will be raised.
I actually almost left the er b/c my pain
had gone away by the time i'd been there
for 8 hours.
Please go have it checked out and let me
know how it goes.
Good luck,
krystle

I don't know much about laproscopic is
that its generally three small incisions,
one to take it out, one to use the scope
& one to flush water in. But I could
be wrong.
Also you are put under general anesthesia
for both open and laproscopic procedures.
