Q: surgery at the t11-12 level

After the surgeon finished with my second surgery at the t11-12 level he told my husband that he wasn't able to get the entire stenosis he removed what he could, but in order to get it all he would have to go through my chest has anyone experienced this? I just don't know what to think.
