Ive Had Spinal Fusion Surgery (feb 2006) When Do I Improve Posted: 06-06-06 15:41pm
In february 2006 I had my third back
operation on my l5/s1 area after injuring
my back in a gym accident in 2002. This
is the third back operation i've had.
I've also had a partial laminectomy and
laser back surgery (in 2002 and 2004)
unfortunately I developed severe scar
tissue from these operations and have been
left in more pain. I'm 39 with a 10
month baby and would love to feel some
relief from the constant pain I have. I
was hoping to have shown more signs of
recovering from the fusion surgery but
everyone keeps telling me to be patient.
I'm desperate to resume a more active life
as my back effects my life in so many
ways. I would love to hear from people
who have had fusion surgery themselves or
have experience of this procedure.
I look forward to hearing from you!

Failed Spinal Fusion Posted: 03-27-07 15:10pm
hi! my name is rose and this is the first
time i have posted. i just had to let you
know my problems with the fusions. i had 2
fusions in feb. 03. I am still in agony. I
cant even begin to tell you how much pain
i am in. my pain level is past 10. I am on
oxycontin and it doesnt help at all. The
pain clinic i started going to here (we
just moved here) sucked!!!!!!!!!!!! all
the dr. wanted to do was give me more
injections in my back and a nerve block. i
have had these done in the past and they
didnt help. the dr. took me off my meds.
that my other dr. had me on before we
moved. i was on methadone , duragesic
patch , percocet . neurontin and soma. it
was the only meds. that had helped at all.
as for the fusions. the only way i can
explain how it feels is the fusion at t
7-8 level feels like my back is ripping
apart. it hurts so bad . it is almost like
it felt the day after the surgery. i had 2
fusions in 2 days . pure agony. i would
never never do it again. i hope that
things will be better for you. most of the
people that i talked to who have had a
fusion has not gotten good results or pain
relief. hopefully you will feel better
soon. sorry i just had to vent. rose

The reason for your pains can be SIJD.
