Q: Is another Ovarian Cyst Forming after a previous Rupture?
asked by: DoctorQuestion on June 4th, 2006
I have had an ovarian cyst rupture less than two weeks ago on my right ovary. This happened on a Wednesday, the very next day I couldn't use the restroom and was rushed straight back to the ER, where I was given a chatheter and was given the option to stay in the hospital or go home, I choose to go home, my fiancee could take care of me. Well I was suppose to go back that Monday to get it taken out. They doctor said the cyst had caused my bladder to basically stop working, my stomach was swollen and very painful cramps, back pains, and rib cage pains. Well I didn't make it to Monday I was back in the ER that Saturday, in pain my stomach was hurting alone with my ovaries. I wasn't given very much for pain this trip another doctor was on call that didn't know my situation very well. Monday I went back to my doctor got the catheter taken out and seemed just very sore.

Well yesterday, I started having sever pains in my back, ribcages, and both ovaries. Very painful cramping, I was put on birthcontrol to try and regulate my hormones, to keep cyst's from forming. I have been in pain for the past two days, and my ovaries are steadily cramping, like before when the cyst ruptured.

My question is, does this sound like I may have another cyst forming?. I am in pain serious pain, I have taken my pain medication, it helps some but not very much. I told my doctor I wanted test's ran on my ovaries. I have had problems with my stomach for two years, but never once were my ovaries checked :(. I have been told I had an ulcer, IBS, and alone with other things.

Do you think I may have another one forming or already ruptured? I can bearly move without my back lower back being in pain. Is there anything I can do to try and keep from having this pain? My ovaries aren't cramping like menstral cramps either. Its sharp pains threw out my back/ribcages/ovaries is this all related to cyst's?

Thank you for reading my post. And any response would be very appreciated.

You can see a gynecologist and request a vaginal ultrasound. Vaginal ultrasounds relay information to your doctor and can identify another ovarian cyst, if there is a cyst present at all. You can also perform standard blood/urine analyses, a pregnancy test, and an abdominal ultrasound. If this is not enough to establish precise diagnosis, a laparoscopy will be indicated.
