Q: Are Vaginitis and Anal itching Related?

I have severe vaginitis and anal itching. I am going to see a dermatologist regarding red itchy eyes and outer ears as they do not appear to be allergies, etc and my family doc is not sure what is causing this. Is it possible the the vaginitis/anal itching could also be related?

I have tried canesten, polysporin, even penaten cream, but nothing helps. The itching is keeping me up at night and is extremely uncomfortable. Is there anything I can do to get relief?

First, you can visit a gynecologist for a vaginal examination. A Pap-smear and vaginal smear can be requested to examine microbiology. These tests (especially the second one) can indicate the cause of vaginitis. Treatment will be reccommended according to the result of these tests. Itchiness of the eyes and outer ears can be diagnosed by proper specialists (ophthalmologist and ENT); microbiological smears are correct protocol for these regions as well. An allergy and infection can be present simultaneously.
