Sudden Infertility Posted: 01-12-04 13:20pm
Hello. My wife and I are trying to have
another child. For the past 2 years we
have been unsuccessful. She has had 6
pregnancies in the past, 4 successful
ones. However, she has always had major
problems with preterm labor. Our last 2
children, she has had a cerclage and
carried close to full term despite
continued preterm labor and
hospitalizations even with the cerclage.
The last pregnancy though, her last
preterm labor episode, the cerclage began
tearing her cervix, and was cut to prevent
further tearing and she was far along
enough for a healthy birth (35 weeks).
Since then, we have been unable to
conceive again. 2 issues we are aware
of. She has always had a retroverted
uterous, which may be even more
retroverted now (recently by procedure
called severely retroverted), and there is
narrowing of her cervix, probably due to
scar tissue from the tearing cerclage.
Are these the likely causes of our sudden
infertility? Nothing else has been
found, ie cysts etc. She will be 35 in
may, been trying since last pregnancy 2
years ago.
Thanks for any advice, or reccommendations
on where to get advice.
