Hysterectomy Answer A1018
It is completely normal that sex is painful after a hyseterectomy. In fact, one of the expectations of such an operation is the inability to have sex for some period. The duration will be, more or less, shorter or longer. I recommend you consult your gynecologist at this time to be sure that you are within the recovery parameters.

Are you using enough lubrication?...How long has it been since your Hysterectomy?...Did you have the complete surgery with cervix work done?...These are all things that could hamper your healing...Then we have fear itself...We tense up...It will hurt...It's not right...We just can't relax....
Some of us forget that we are the same woman as before...Only difference is missing a few parts and a few days older....

I had very bad pain after mine and could not have sex either my doctor said sometime the scar does not heal right and they need to put some thing on it an it will heal the scar and take the pain away. I had to have my doctor do it twice. It does not feel so good but now sex is not a painful thing.

Hysterectomy, pain with sex, IUD
I had a hysterectomy 10 years ago and I still have pain, and not just with sex. My doctor said that it was a possibility, but I am really disappointed. I am only 40 years old. This should not have happened to me.
Anyone else use an IUD which, you believe, caused the pain which resulted in their hysterectomy? Write me, if so.

Oh Honey, I am sorry you are having this problem..Is it possible as Taykare suggests to have scar tissue that could be causing this pain? I had pain for the first 3 months and some abdominal pain for about 6 months and some of that was due to scaring that had to be removed but then things were great..

oh frooggy69,
Like I said above even if it as been years go see a different doctor. I had a doctor before the gyne I have now that ACTUALLY told me that IT WAS NORMAL for 10% of women to HAVE PAIN during sex. I looked at him and said you think it is normal. He said yes. I said GOOD-BYE and left. The next doctor is the one I have now and he is amazing. After the surgery I had pain he looked and said it is your scar this happens to many women and as above I believe it was nitrogen but not entirely sure he rubbed it on the scar which was silver in color instead of a nice pretty pink and was why he took that thing that looks like a really long q-tip dipped in the nitro and it stung a little but after he did that on 2 separate visits no more pain. IT IS AMAZING TO HAVE SEX WITHOUT PAIN! I believe with all my heart I had to have a hysterectomy because of an IUD. Is that what happened to you?
let me know manybe we can figure it out together with some other women here this is a very loving and understanding place.

i had a complete total abdominal hysterctomy 16 months ago and am STILL unable to have sex due to the severity of the pain.... my boyfriend couldnt even TOUCH me let alone attempt entry because the pain was/is so extreme inside.....sucks...my life has forever changed.... incidently...my gboyfriend eventually moved out and i have been unable to have an intimate relationship sinse.... i am only 38......i cant believe that part of my life is over.... never having sex again at 38 because the pain is too extreme???? COMPLETELY SUCKS!!!! NOT TO MENTION THE HEARTACHE OF LOSING THE MAN I LOVED..... and he was a good man... he stayed no matter what.... i eventually made him leave because the stress and tension and loss of intimacy was too much.
