Q: I can't stop Bleeding on Seasonale! Is this Normal?

i've been on seasonale for month and started my period on the forth monday which i guess was ok but it hasn't stopped yet and its been 12 days since it started...i stoped taking the pills 4 days ago hoping it would stop but it hasn't yet i really don't know what to do and today it seems the flow has been a little heavier when it's been light. do i need to be examined or can i just wait for it to stop? thanks

It is more common to have irregular bleeding (spotting) while using this type of contraceptive pills (Seasonale) than others. The irregular bleedings should decrease in time. The advantage of these contraceptive pills is that you will have 4 periods per year instead of 12-13 when using the other types of pills. Perhaps the bleeding became heavier due to cessation of the pills 4 days ago. You can consult your gynecologist and use additional contraception (condoms) until the contraceptive pills become reliable.
