Q: Thyroid Problem??
asked by: tizzy on January 12th, 2004

I am a 27 year old female, who had half of my thyroid taken out 8 months ago. The last time I had my thyroid tested was 6 months ago, which came back as normal (it was 1.20). Here is the problem, i'm still losing my hair, i'm constantly tired, I can't seem to lose any weight, i'm extremely moody. I am going back to the dr today, but I had all these symptoms before & my thyroid was normal, so what do I do? What else could be causing these problems?? Any response would be great.

What Was the Diagnosis of Your Thyroid Disease?
It is likely that more reasonable approach would be possible if I know your diagnosis.

Thyroid Problem
I, too, had most of my thyroid taken out. I am taking 200 mg of levoxyl. But I am still tired. My hair has not fallen out. I do have hashimoto's thyroiditis though. You may have an underlying illness. I would ask the doctor to give you more tests. Smile

hi Tizzy,
I dont even know if you are still on this forum, but i thought i would try anyway. I was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism about 2 1/2 years ago. I am exercising like a crazy person (about 5 times per week), and I am not losing weight. I am still very tired, all the time. The part that really concerns me is my hair has been falling out in patches. I have tried every shampoo and lotion I can get my hands on. I am missing chunks of hair, I look like i have been on Chemo, but I haven't. I am at the point that I have made an appointment to bo and buy a wig this weekened. I was just wondering if you were able to find something that helped or is it a lost cause?
