Q: Any Advice Appreciated

I feel I may me hypoglycemic and any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

First off, im a male, 23 years of age. I have a very stressful job which involves working long hours. About a month ago at work I didnt feel 'right'. I plodded on until late evening I felt very irritated and weak.

I sat down in the office to do some work and my hands were shaking, face felt bright red, I could hear people speaking to me but just wanted to be alone, difficulty speaking, glassy eyes. The shaking was the worst part, hands were going crazy and legs felt really weak. My mouth also became really dry and I had to drink lots of water.

Ever since this episode ive still not been right. That hasnt happened again but the feeling of being not right has remained. My eart races sometimes and I just feel tired/weak and dont feel like doing anything or speaking to anyone. My sleep isnt the greatest either which im sure is contributing!

I was at uni for 4 years prior and living away from home. My diet consisted of, well nothing much really just junk most of the time! I dont really eat 3 set meals a day and tend to opt for junk food when I do eat.

I was wondering if this could be a sign of hypogycemia? Im waiting to see my doc, but the nhs is a shambles when you have to wait 2 weeks to see a doc.

Sometimes feel okay but I have these sudden onset of symptoms - mostly in the morning and around mid afternoon/evening time. My first though was I had had a heart attack - but at 23 and suffering no pain I thought that would be highly unlikely. Im also anxious all the time and 'scared' to go out and do things.

If anyone could give me tips on what to eat and what to avoid and any other hints to tide me through till I see the doc that would be great.

Hi,
i'm really very new in here as well. I started following stan's diet version 6 on saturday and a lot of my symptoms have already disappeared. He offers a good diet outline a list of foods to avoid. I had a lot of the same symptoms, mine hit late afternoon and after dinner. Now i'm much more stable throughout the entire day.
Good luck and nice to see ya here

Thanks for the reply,

im gona give his diet a go anyway and see if that helps before I see the doc. I dont seem to have the energy to do anything today apart from sleep and worry!

Must be more to life than this surely?

Welcome to the board, scotlad. It does sound like you might be hypoglycemic. As mendigoodwin said, stan's diet version 6 is a good outline. I'm sure stan would say try the diet and see if you start to feel better. If you do, you probably have it. Try to take it easy and the forum is here if you need it.

Thanks for the advice.

Im just wondering if its normal to feel bad all the time and lack energy and enthusiasm to do anything?

I must also stress that I do not actually get cravings for sugar or food but sugary foods seem to make me feel a bit better. Reading stans tips I realise this is actually worse for me so his diet is one I shall try.

Thanks again

I was not craving sugar either. I had a general lack of energy that was much, much worse about 3 to 3.5 hours after eating. I was always tired and unmotivated at home. I had already pretty much wiped all white sugar/starch out of my diet. I would still get moody, my thought process was off, and I would be soooo very cold. I had lost interest in things I used to find enjoyable. I could not concentrate at work and I get paid to make decisions - I have to be able to concentrate. I thought wheat would be okay - nope. Since wiping out all carbs except for those from veges - i'm feeling much much better. I had one low day since saturday which is a huge improvement. It can't hurt to try the diet and see how you feel. I know it has totally changed how I feel, not only about me, but about other people too.

You sound like me scotlad, when I first got sick, every day after that I never felt exactly "right" anymore. Definitely sounds like you got it. Try my diet and let me know if you have any questions, you don't have to follow it to a "t." i'm going to change one thing on it, so version 7 is on the way.
