Q: Long Period With Birth Control.

On april 31st my boyfriend and I had an accident. My period was due in 3-5 days(i have a somewhat of an irregular cycle), so I didn't want to take any chances, so the next day we went to planned parenthood to pick up plan b (levonorgestrel), while I was there I decided to might aswell goet on birth control. I told the doctor, and she gave me plan b and ortho try-cyclen. She told me that plan b would be more effective if I took both pills at once. And she told me to start birth control on sunday even if I started my period. She also told me that plan b would make my body have a 2nd period in 2 weeks or so. So I took both plan b pills on may 1st, and on may 4th I got my period. I started birth control pills on may 6th, I missed 1 pill the first week, and 1 pill the 3rd week. But I pretty much haven't stopped menstruating. The flow would slow a bit, but then it would come back full force. On my 2nd 'fake' pill (may 29th) the flow increased, to the point that up to today 31st, I have to change tampons every 1.5 - 2 hrs (super plus). I'm a bit frustrated and a bit worried, i've never had a flow this heavy before, and since i've been pretty much menstruating nonstop for almost a month, I really don't knwo what to expect. I'm due to begin a new pack this sunday. I don't know if this is normal and if I should continue taking the birth control, or if I should either stop it or change the brand. I would really appreaciate any help. Also i've been feeling very tired lately, I don't know if it might be anemia. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.

Another Visit to Planned Parenthood..
I would suggest you go back to planned parenthood and talk to a doctor. I know women when they miss a day on the pill they tend to spot. But in your case, I think since there has been so much bleeding it would be safest if you get it checked out by a doctor, because if the pill itself is causing so much trouble it would be better to find an alternative method.I would get to a planned parenthood and see if they can give you some other form of birth control. I hope this helps some. :)

Same thing happened to me
I am 19 years old, and my periods are usually on time and last about 5 days. However, I started taking birth control at the start of this month (September) and I got my period two weeks early. It's odd, because my period lasted for about two weeks. This has never happened before. Like you, it also slowed down and came back heavy as ever. The brand of bc that I'm taking is Sprintic.
I'm not sure, but maybe it has to do with the start of taking bc. Our bodies are trying to get used to the new antibiotics.

Its breakthrough bleeding.

Have you been having irregular spotting any other time within the three months?

If it doesn't go away within the next month or gets too annoying then go back and speak to your doctor. You may need to try a new pill.
