I have folic acid and prenatals with folic acid in them.
Is it safe to be taking both? I'll ask at my appointment which is going to be on the 8th of june but what should I do until then?

Just take the vitamins with the folic acid if them I would call or wait until the appt you dont want the baby getting too much of anything that could hurt him/her

You should be getting at least 400-600 mcg of folic acid.

I take a vitamin that has 400 mcg and then an additional folic acid pill that also has 400.

i'm going to go with this because i've heard something simular lately. The folic acid says it has 400 mcg and the prenatals says it has 100 mcg, so i'll take both.
I'm really worried because I didn't start taking folic acid until late because I found out about the baby so late. Is the risk really big for neural tube defects or should I stop worrying??

I got that info from the "what to expect when expecting" book. It had a list of everything that should be in your vitamins.

I wouldn't worry about not taking your folic in the beginning. I mean, yeah something could be wrong but what good is worrying over something you can't change? Just think positively and think of all those girls who skip prenatal care completely and they have healthy babies. I'm sure everything is fine! How far along were you when you found out?

It was monday may 1st when I found out. So exactly a month ago I found out, and according to the due date the lady gave me (i still think i've got to be further than this) i'm suppose to be 11 weeks and 4 days pregnant today. So I found out on may first and got folic acid about a week later. I don't know how many weeks I would have been around may 8th and i'm too lazy to do that math.
