I used to shadow box very often, and when you punch your head moves just a little... Well after a long time of shadow boxing I would get a very sharp stabbing pain on the spot every time... I stopped for a while and hit the heavy bag and after going at it for a few minutes a particular punch gave me a bad ice pick headache, I havn't shadow boxed or hit the heavy bag for a few weeks now, but i'm pretty sure the condition isnt gone, I think its an ice pick headache problem... But what concerns me is that it only happens when my head moves, although rarely I do get a much smaller pain on that spot from doing nothing. Couldn't find anything online that connects ice pick headaches to head movement, and i'm concerned that I could have damaged my brain from all of the shadow boxing( I did it alot as I used to be fat, I did it so often then i'm now in good shape and pretty toned)

I've tried for a while, could find anything on google. My mom thinks i'm a hypocondriac and doesen't think a cat scan is necessary. Seems to be a set amount of punches because it never happens after a few punches after a while of not shadow boxing... It takes a small accumilation then a certain punch will give me a painful headache.... This is very dissapointing because i'm very interested in doing some amateur boxing. I havnt't shadow boxed for a while now i'm hoping that the problem goes away but I think I might need a cat scan...

Wow I think im having the same problem as you, and it came about the same way:shadow boxing. The pain for me only lasts as long as im moving, and it also doesnt come right away. Usually I can throw anywhere from 5-10 punches before I start getting the pain with every punch. But then again sometimes it doesnt happen at all as I just found out. Sorry I cant help you, I was just surprised someone was having a similiar problem as me. I wish I had your self control though, I cant stop throwing punches or hitting things. If I do I get really angry and irate, sucks for my family. Had to repair alot of drywall because of this obsession. I need to get a damn heavy bag.
