When to Start Yasmin Bc With Irregular/no Period?
Posted: 05-30-06 18:26pm

All of my life I have had a very irregular period. Sometimes I will get it every month, sometimes skip a month, sometimes I won't get it for three months! I just got the yasmin birth control pills, but am unsure when to start. I don't know when i'll get my next period, but want to start the pills as soon as possible. Usually you're supposed to start on the first day or your period or the first sunday after you get your period, but this desn't apply to me. Any help would be great!!! Thanks.

You can start the pills whenever! They tell you to start at the beginning/end of your period because then your protection from pregnancy will begin immediately. Otherwise, it's perfectly fine to start whenever; but you're not garunteed protection that first month.

Not exactly... If you start when you start your period yes you are protected immedately... But when you start any other time it takes 7 full days for the hormones to put your ovaries at rest and stop the ovualtion...

So if you start "anytime" than you need 7 full days of use to be protected.. This is also stated on your pill package leaflet:)
