My mother went to her gp with vomiting, cronic stomach pains and change in her toilet habbits after eating. The gp told her she probably has ibs, he has given her medication without sending her for any tests.

I have been to many sites regarding ibs and haven't came across anybody with vomiting with their symptoms.

Is my mothers gp right?

I'd appreciate your advice

Ibs can include vomiting, but mild reflux is far more common.

I would recommend your mother visits a gastroenterologist who will be better placed to confirm the gp's diagnosis of ibs.

An upper endoscopy which allows the physican to exaimine the esophagus, stomach, and duodenum will help rule out other possible causes such as shallow ulcers etc..
