Hi, Kinda Strange Question...
Posted: 05-29-06 16:17pm

Hello, i'm shanon. I'm 18, female, and i've had 3 kidney stones. Perhaps I should give you more of my history...

A year ago, I had my first kidney stone (talk about excruciating pain. It certainly has redefined pain for me). I went to the e.R. , because I had no idea what this horrible pain was. Anyways, it passed all on it's own. The doctors said I had 2 more stones in one of my kidneys, and that they'd probably pass on their own too. 2 months ago I had the excruciating pain again, went to the e.R. Etc...(mainly because I needed something for the pain) and the stone had blocked the urine flow from the kidney. The kidney was swollen. They were going to do surgery to remove it, but it passed on it's own right after they told me, lol. The docs said that the one left in my kidney was almost a 6 mm, but they're hard to measure because they're jagged. If it was a 6, it probably couldn't pass on it's own. A couple weeks later they did an x-ray and you could barely even see it. I think it shrunk, because it was a 3 or 4 (same as my 2 previous stones). About a month ago, it passed all on it's own with almost no pain whatsoever (that's weird, I know... Maybe i've built up a tolerance for the pain, ha). I even managed to save this little stone.

Anyways, it seems I am stone free right now.

This morning though, lying in bed before I got up, I felt this weird "pressure" across my lower back... Partly in my waist area and partly up into my rib area. Like in my kidney area. It woke me up. It wasn't pain, didn't hurt, just felt "full". And if I sniffed ( I have allergies), it felt like it would burst. When I stood up, it kind of was relieved a little, and when I urinated, the pressure/fullness/tightness/almost acheness went away completely. It was a good amount of urine too, not alot, but a little more than normal. It's gonna sound weird, but it felt like I could feel the urine in my kidneys and ureters, and when I stood up it went to my bladder (the slight relief feeling) and when I urinated it was gone. Complete relief. I know that's probably not possible, but that's what it felt like. Completely.

I've looked around on the internet (everything from kidney infection to disease to cancer) but haven't found anything. I have no symptoms, except whatever I felt this morning. But that doesn't seem to fit anywhere.

I drink a lot of water usually (alot more these past 2 months) so much that my urine is a really light color. No soda or tea, but I do love coffee. My urine doesn't have blood in it, isn't a weird color, doesn't smell (like with an infection), I have no pain or discomfort when I urinate or any other time. I urinate a good amount every day (like maybe 6 or 7 times, roughly, from 7 am till 12 pm) I have a lot of energy, as usual. Basically, I feel fine. Good. Great. Normal.

These past 2 days I have been drinking quite a bit of coffee though. I had cut back to like half a cup a day since these last 2 bats with the stones. But i've been drinking a cup or 2 a day now, kinda late at night too.

I don't know, maybe my kidney(s) and ureters are still sensative from the stones, and the caffeine irritated them or over worked them. Maybe it's nothing. I am at a loss.

Do any of you have any ideas or suggestions? Does this sound like anything to you?????

Thanks in advance,
shanon
