Q: Cmv Ebv... Hiv Too?

I had protected sex with a man in october 2005, but this man, (who afterwards I learned is hiv and has been doing this to many other gilrs) left the condom inside me soon after starting sexual intercourse, and then ejaculated inside me. The condom was inside me all night long. A week after this I started feeling odd, with swollen glands, fever, fatigue, exaustion, rash, shingles, nausea, vomiting, peeling of hands and feet, and some weeks after this I started feeling terrible, but like really terrible, I had encephalitis, plus all the previous symtpoms. I was tested for shyphilis, hiv, hepatitis, all came back negative, several times. After 3 months I started havign red eyes (which I still have after 8 months) and petechiae everywhere inside my mouth. I tested positive for ebv and cmv, but only igg, which means past infection, but the titers of both of them doctors say, are very high, as if a reactivation has occured. Some doctors say what I had was mononucleosis, others say it was a reactivation because of some other virus which I picked up. I don`t seem to be improving, I feel terrible, the petechiae won`t go, I started having anemia with low tibc and transferrin but quite high ferritin, high reticulocyte count, it was improved with folic acid. White cells are in the 8000s with lymphocytosis, and activated lymphocytes. All this time i've been 100% sure this was hiv, but so many negative elisas out to 7 months, and 2 negative pcrs, one ultra sensitive rna and a nested pcr. I dont know what to think. I feel terrible, physically and psychologically. I don`t know what to do anymore, my life has become a living hell. Please tell me, what other viruses can cause a reactivation of ebv and cmv apart from hiv, can this be a case of delayed seroconversion?

Extremely eHealthy
Hi andrea! Have you thought of getting a second opinion from another dr? I have had mono and it is not something you get rid of overnight. I am no dr but someone told me that once you show positive for mono that you generally always test positive for mono now, I do not know how true that is but it could be possible because I had mono when I was a teenager and recently and I am not a teenager anymore and lately I tested positive for mono.
When you are stressed, anxious and depressed that can mess up your health too.
My thoughts are with you!
I wish you the best!

Relax
Hello andrea.

It seems that you are more confused and stressed up with all the symptoms that you have been undergoing. You need to relieve yourself first that you are free of hiv infection, since you have been continuously testing yourself for it and turned negative.

Well mono symptoms show that you could have been having it, but then, the symptoms should not be persistant. Try to rule out any std transmissions which can reoccur at times.
