A lot of married women have babies because they are stable and want to have babies, that is normal.
Unmarried women have babies too, because they want to have a baby.

Its not the peice of paper that stops abortion its the fact two human beings are in a loving (in the real sense) commited relationship.

The bonds of marriage don't save unwanted children. Things like financial and emotional stability are big factors that help to decide on the abortion option for some, as well as whether or not the woman wants kids in the first place, be it at that time or ever. I may not be married yet, but if I were to conceive after I tied the knot, I would be in an abortion clinic faster than you could say "rusty coat hanger", just as I would be if I conceived now.

I would venture to say that unmarried women seek abortions more often than married women because men who are not bound by marriage can run out on the woman easier if he is only dating her. Then again, that chart is only a statistic - most statistics, as sandralynn said, are nothing but random numbers made up by someone who was too bored to amuse themselves in any other way. Besides, the chart dealt with "reported" abortions, and I assume that this is some kind of voluntary response survey, meaning that, if it is a real statistic that was researched, the numbers are probably not accurate.

Okay I work in an aboriton clinics and have had 3 aboritons myself... I can tell you most women who come into my clinic are ages 18-30.... Quite a few married women do have abortions, myself included...

I have an iud right now, and actually became pregnant on birth control..
The number of abortions women have does'nt matter..If you are pro choice and support the right to choose then you support the right to chooose regardless of how many abortions.
I am 24 and had 3 abortions before I was 22, I use an iud which is as effective as sterilization, so I am well protected thank you.

Married or unmarried doesn't make the whole situation, look at the rape situation or the incest situation or the molestation situation or the must have situation, we do not know the whole situation of others and we are not here to judge. The fetus depends on the mother-to-be past implantation or the fetus cannot make it, if the mother-to be comes down with a life threatening illness and her body shuts down odds are the fetus will not make it and if the fetus becomes critical she must decide, I would not want to have a baby born and knowing it did not have a certain organ that could not be replaced and have to be put on life support just to pull the plug, to me that is selfish, I have seen this done but it is their choice if it is someone elses. Sometimes when you love something or someone you will let them go if you feel a need or a must. I have seen babies born that mothers walk away from if they are healthy or if the mother needs her fix of drugs, if the baby is born of toxic poisoning and does not come back. Just because you can get pregnant does not always mean that you can always feel that you can properly raise a child and their are some women out there that have their legitimate reasons to abort and some do love there fetuses, it is just the way it is @ times.

birth control rates vary, depending on which you are using, diaphragms, for example are around 92% effective, condoms around 98% (less if using female condoms) and pill rates vary depending on the brand (mine was 96% - micronor pop). I've become pregnant twice whilst using birth control correctly so, yes, it does happen.

B/c is 99.999% effective( that is a joke) then why did I and others get pregnant while using it correctly, it doesn't matter how many times you get pregnant to some females such as myself it was not 99.999% effective. Thank you .Moo for agreeing also, I aam not saying not to use it, I am just saying to some females it is not 99.999% safe, oh yes, I also used a spermicide condome with the b/c and that is what caused me to m/c the fetus 2 months later, if I had not used the spermicide condom they feel that I would not have m/c, the pill was never safe with me and some women are like that , not everything agrees with all women, that is why it is good to have a back up, I also had to abort because I was on the iud, this was years ago as the iud was moved up to the fetuses head and the dr's knew that the baby would have never been born normal and I m/c another time because of the b/c pill and the sponge, I love people that think they know it all and they don't, oh yes, my sister had the same problem and the situation can be hereditary but the dr even said that I would have problems carrying a baby full term especially after getting kicked in the stomach at 5 and 1/2 months pregnant and having to abort it because of the damage to the fetus and myself and I ended up having two large baby's, so it goes to show you that even they can be wrong. And I was married at all times.

sandyallen you don't need to bring up your story over and over. Everybody is aware of what a medically necessary aboriton is. We know that is your case so you don't need to bring it up all the time. The debate here has always been for the perfectly healthy pregnancies which are over 90% of the abortion cases.
