If it came down to roe v. Wade being overturned....What do you think the outcome would be? Do you think it would truly result in less abortions? I am interested in opinions. Thanks in advance.

I feel it will result in obviously fewer legal abortions, I also feel more dead babies will be thrown in dumpsters, and more illegal aboritons will take place.
I work in an abortion clinic and can tell you there are regulations to follow, sterile instruments, qualified doctors and staff, something that I feel is important. I would travel overseas(or to canada) if my iud failed, because I can afford to do that. But I feel that women who are poverty stricken and low income will surely suffer, because they will not be able to go overseas for an abortion.

I believe adoption is a wonderful option for women who choose that route, however, some women feel that 'noone' will raise that baby and may dispose of it in garbage dumpsters.

I also believe that while skilled dr's will be performing illegal abortions, there will be hacks, and I know some women are desperate enough or poor enough to where they are not able to be choosey.

Back before roevwade there were still states that did allow abortions, overturning roe v wade will not automatically make it illegal, only put it back to states. This still puts an undue burden on our most needy women.

I do not beleive that illegal abortion will make the rates go lower, because women who want an abortion are going to get one regardless what they have to do.
I do not believe obviously that illegal aboriton is the answer, I believe better birth control education and safe sex is the answer.
Women don't 'want' to have to get an abortion, trust me, they would rather be on birth control or have their birth control method not fail in the first place.

Alright seriously.. Trina and I have had very courteous debates and talks on other boards, which we have both remianed respectful..

I realize you may not agree with her, and I am pro choice too..But name calling is not debating, and it's rude.

I have to agree with all carifairy said - abortions will certainly still happen even if they are made illegal. If roe v. Wade was to be overturned, I would probably put forth my best efforts to establish an underground clinic where I live. I know there was something on the internet a while ago that raised quite an uproar. A webmaster known only as "molly" had posted information on how to perform an abortion (i believe she detailed how to perform the d&e procedure). She made the information available in the event abortion does become illegal and women need help. It's scary to think women may actually need that information in the future if this country continues to be overrun by the rule of retards.

Firstly, as I understand it, if roe vs wade is overturned it does not change anything except to permit the states to ban abortion. It does not actually make it illegal. Row vs wade simply said that a woman's right to privacy was protected by the us constitution, didn't it?

So what would happen first is that in some states, abortion would not be available. I think, actually, it is pretty difficult to get an abortion in some places already, isn't it?

The next thing that would happen is that abortion would still be available for those who could afford it, either by paying for illegal abortions, or by travelling to places where it will be available. Canada, for instance.

There will definitely be more illegal abortions, as people set up secret clinics. These will be done both by those who are looking to help women, and by others looking to make money (such as doctors who have been struck off).

There will be a lot more teenage mothers, and quite likely more babies available for adoption, although quite a lot of those won't be the blonde-blue-eyed sort that are most in demand.

i believe this is correct. If roe v. Wade were overturned....It would not be an end to abortion.....It would simply turn abortion over to the states. Each state would decide individually whether abortions could be done in their state or not. The most it would likely do is cut down on late term abortions....And in some states....Women would probably have to cross state lines to have abortions. It would likely make it inconvenient for some to have a legal abortion....But definitely not impossible.

I worry most about illegal back alley abortions, even though antibiotics are around nowadays, the abortionist most likely would not write an rx because he/she would want to stay 'unknown'.
I also feel that many women will not get the birth control education that most abortion clinics provide. All clinics that I have worked in have a birth control counseling session, of course some woemn do take it properly and it still fails. Back alley abortion quacks will not care about teaching women how to use birth control properly, or how to put on a condom, or about safer sex..They only care about doing the abortion and getting paid. I on the other hand care about birth control, teaching women about the newer safer iud's which are the most effective contraception out there, next to tubal liagtion of course. Women who can never remember the pill can benefit from nuva ring or the iud, but a back alley abortion will not give women this info, because the quack pots do not care.
