I am a 35 year old woman. Last year I had four cancerous polyps removed from my colon. I found my way to the doctor because of severe rectal bleeding. This bleeding has started again over the past few months. In addition, I began having abnormal menstrual bleeding. The rectal bleeding always coincides with the menstrual bleeding. In addition to the bleeding, I have severe bloating and gas and get very nauseous after every meal. I visited my ob/gyn about 10 days ago and received a phone call today informing me that my pap smear came back showing severe dysplasia and I now need to have a colposcopy to determine the extent of the problem...My question is... Are the two possibly related? As I have not had a pap smear in four years, I am very concerned that I may have had the cervical problem for quite some time and it has spread. Any light that you can shed on this is greatly appreciated.
