Have a Problem............ Posted: 05-23-06 18:56pm
Ok, my upper right wisdom tooth, has
broken off at the gumline, it really
doesn't bother me only sometimes. I
don't think the dentist will be able to
pull it. So my question is, can they cut
it out without putting me to sleep? It's
only one tooth. I never seen them put a
person to sleep, just because one one
tooth. Any help will be much
appreciated.

Hey there. It is possible to remove your
tooth without "putting you to sleep". As
long as you can get numb in the area, your
dentist should have no problem removing
the tooth. If the tooth is badly broken,
you may need to see an oral surgeon. Do
not freak out about this, an oral surgeon
is a specialist in removing teeth that are
broken and requiring special tools that a
general dentist may not have. Either way,
sedation is not always used in extration
of wisdom teeth. Hope all goes well for
you!

Thanks. I would be a little scared to be
put to sleep with only one tooth.
