Q: Smell Smoke

I have a question. Do any of you use those nice smelling candles, plug-ins, room sprays or any of that stuff? I did. However I went on a trip to baja and did not have any of that stuff. The smoke smell has gone away for about 2 weeks now. I am home and not using any of that stuff and still am not smelling smoke...For now. Maybe I am in a remission of sorts for a while. I don't know, but anything is worth a try. :d :d

i feel like someone has shoved a cigarette up my nose. Ghhh it is consuming my every move and thought. Mine is consistent and does not go away...Only when I sleep because I am sleeping....But I have to take a sleeping pill to help me sleep so I dont wake up with the smell. It is so horrible. I am so glad I found this forum and that I am not nuts. I went to the doctor today and I have an appt with the brain doctor (nuerologist) on the 19th of october...But I dont think I can wait that long. Nothing is dulling the sense of smoke. Vicks works for awhile if I actually rub it inside of my nose,,,Sad I have had a alot of sinus infections in the last two years because my daughter who is in daycare is always sick,,,,so as a result I have had an increase in colds and such,,,,,i am thinking that I have a blockage or something. I have also been under a huge amount of stress and grief. Maybe that is triggering it as well. Any perfumy smell really enhances it so tonight I removed some of my perfume and plugins from my house to see if that helps. My doctor said I was not crazy and that my nerves from my brain and my nose are not functioning but he does not no why.....So I have to wait.....He did not prescribe anything for sinus infection....So I have a call into him right now to see if he can prescribe anything to me just in case....I will update soon.

Thanks

This Is Very Interesting Because I Do Smell Smoke
It basically comes and go. i.e: I started smelling it today around 5pm it is 11pm and still smell it but also smell it yesterday. I have being under a lot of stress too. I have being taking some nursing test and combined with others things around make or add stress to the situation. I don't have insurance to go to a doctor. So It would be nice to hear if someone find some good info from their doctor or some good explanation for this situation. I have never smoke in my life. No one smoke in my family. I am 25 yrs. old. No diseases at all that I know off. Yearly go back to my country to do a complete checkup and everything is good. I should mention that yesterday I used some incense in my house . One I like a lot is Gonesh and also some other oil incense. No much evidence to correlated it to it, because I think that in other occasions I have smell it. Any way I will appreciated any info related.

burning smell
Hello everyone. I have had this burning smell since Nov '08 it is terrible. I do not have it continuously however I can have a break of like five minutes and then it comes back on and off all day. I have seen my neurologist and they say it could be seizures. I have had tests that have not shown seizure activity so now have to go into the hospital so they can video me for three days to see what happens when I have these episodes. They know they are seizures but whether epileptic or not it the question.

cigerrette smoke
My wife started smelling cigerrette smoke since sept 2008. I took her to a neurologist and an ENT doctor. She had an MRI and and EEG. All reports where negative. no turmors, not siezure activity, no abnormalities noted. I am a RN and I would like to see if there are any kind of other similarities between other "smoke smellers" 1. Do you usaully have low blood pressure? 2. Have you ever had fainting spells? 3. Have you ever been told you are borderline anemic? 4. Do you have a "small" nose, a deviated septum, or personal/family history of "snoring"? My theory is this, our sinuses have a lot of suface area where bacteria or fungus can colonize. Some bacteria or fungus release gassy emissions that have a strong odor. Some orders have a sulphur or phosphorous smells. I will research what cigerrette smoke smells like. Please post your answers as soon as possible. thanks

Smelling smoke when none is there.
I too have the same problem and have not found any help. I also thought about this idea. I would like to find out the similarities of all of the ones experiencing this. I barbequed for memorial day and smoke went up my nose because of the wind. Made me dizzy for a little but the scent I smell is not that kind of scent. It smells like wood or some material burning. In response to your questions ..I actually have high blood pressure. I am severe anemic (bleed heavy during cycle). Eat lots of seafood (crablegs). I have a normal size nose. I dont snore. I used to have migraines but they have subsided. I have been under more stress than normal because of finance. I drink red wine about 3 times per week for anemia. This is about it for me. Hope this helps.

I too, have the phantom smell of smoke. This week my doctor ordered an MRI, EEG and CT scan. MRI and EEG were normal, however, CT scan showed a fungus ball in the left ethmoid sinus. The ENT removed it, but guess what - the smell is still there. ENT suggested a burst of Prednisone (dose Pack) to see if it will finally take smell away. I am going to try it.

smell cigerette smoke
I smell what smells like cigerette smoke all the time, except when I sleep or have a cold. I am a 51 year old woman, I am severerly anemic (bleed heavy during cycle,
doc said I need Vitiam D and Iron. I have devolped 2 raised lumps on top of my head, that you can see and feel. I dont have hedaches, blood pressure close to the normal.
Now yall might thing me strange, but I am a christian, and I do beleave in prayer!! Someone prayed over my smelling smoke, and he rebuked it as a spirit from the devil, and commanded it to leave me alone in Jesus's name. And guess what I had real peace for 3 months. And for a while I would take aurthurity over that thing, I commanded it to leave in Jesus's name, and it did. So only
resently it has revisited me again.
But now I wonder should go to the doc's for this, or keep runnning it off my self. So far as I have read all these letters. my soultion has been the best one for us all so far!! As a beliver in God the good one , and satan the bad one, it stands to reason ,that satan may have sent this spirit of smoke to bring about torment to us . And if that is the case, then a doctor cant help us. Hey, call me what you want to.. But I told you what worked for me, but I just have to keep on my toes, for that ole buger,LOL when it comes around.
If you belive in the Lord, and maybe youi dont feel that you have the goods with the Lord, go to a church that belive in prayer, and how to bind spirits, and gets some relife people. You deserve the rest from all that smoke smell. Call me crazy bible thumper, whaterver, but I anit gonna keep suffering..

Smoky smell
I have been experiencing the "smoky smell" for about the last 6 months. The first few months really drove me crazy! I kept thinking that something was burning and kept looking around to see what it was. I have always had a very acute sense of smell...perfumes and other artificial scents will make me feel slightly nauseous. I have previously been diagnosed with dust mite and mold allergies; and have noticed a correlation with the reported levels of mold in the air (as reported by weather.com) and the severity of the smoky smell. When I take my allergy medications (Zyrtec and Singulair)the symptoms are reduced...but in the end...I just ignore the smell now.

To reply to MCHH about similar symptoms...I have a very small nose, I snore (much to my husband's chagrin), and do not have pressure issues or anemia.

Stop the Smell
I have just began smelling smoke.... It has been 3 days... although it has happened before. I can make it go away if I cover my mouth and nose and rebreathe or put my coller over my nose and rebreathe that way. The smoke smell goes away and I can smell fine for a few minutes afterwards. I have been stressing out lately due to finances and having just switched jobs. I am going to get Centrum tomorrow so that I can be sure I am getting the right amount of vitamins. The smell is actually bad to the point my eye's also hurt.

I have experience the smoke smell since 10/07. It comes and goes and I have noticed it is worse this time of year. I have a history or headaches, low blood pressure and anemia. I also have ringing in my left ear, which I have lived with for over twenty years. I have thought about going to a doctor, but fear they will not be able to help me.

Smelling smoke for almost 4 years
I have been smelling smoke for three or four years now. It is so strong sometimes that I actually get up and look around to see if something is burning. I have terrible allergies and asthma. No issues with high blood pressure though. It is the most frustrating thing I have ever experienced.
