Im 17 years old and two weeks before I was
going to turn 16 I had a seizure. It
happened on my way back from the beach. I
went to the hospital but I didnt find out
or they didnt tell me what was wrong with
me. I have small seizures every now and
then. Sometimes my muscles just stiff up
and I cant move them, why is that
happening? Do I have epilepsy?

you might. Unfortunately, it's not a
simple matter to diagnose epilepsy.
Often, you have to undergo many tests
before they can get a good diagnosis.
Seizures can be characteristic of many
disorders and can sometimes happen for no
apparent reason at all.
At any rate, it's not as simple as
walking into a doctor's office and being
told you have epilepsy. You will probably
need to see a neurologist and ha or she
will likely schedule you for some tests in
which your brain activity will be
monitored over a period of time to see
what's going on. Even so, sometimes, even
the tests aren't definitive the first
time. People have gotten clear tests and
still had epilepsy. The thing is, you
have to be hooked up to the machine when
the seizure happens in order for it to
record it. If nothing happens while
you're hooked up to it, your test will be
clear....Which doesn't necessarily mean
you don't have epilepsy (hope that isn't
confusing).
