Strange header, but that's my problem right now. It all started with a bike accident I had some years back. Some guy ran my motorbike off the road. It was a hit and run. I took a bad tumble and my back took a pounding. A subsequent domestic accident further aggravated the problem.

My initial problem started with intense lower back pain that inhibited my mobility and caused problems with me sitting and sleeping. I also felt pain in my thighs. An xray didn't show up anything and recommended physiotheraphy didn't do much for me either.

I carried on suffering for several months until I read in a newspaper about a product called "backlife" which I ordered and started using. I have to confess that after using it for several weeks, it did help reduce the pain in my lower back considerably. The pain was no longer debilitating and the pain in my thighs slowly faded away.

I thought my problems were over until late last year when I woke up in the middle of the night in pure agony. This time pain was in my upper back, originating from a spot in my spine just under the shoulder blade area. If felt like somebody was prising the vertebrae apart with a screw driver. Again, a subsequent x-ray failed to reveal the cause.

Recently this problem has taken a turn for the worse. The area in question is hypersensitive to touch. If I sit back against any surface for anything longer than fifteen minutes, my upper back explodes in pain which quickly spreads out into my chest and stomach. It starts off as a bad case of acid indigestion and quickly snowballs, making me feel like my innards are on fire. I can't lie down on my back. If I happen to fall asleep on my back, I always wake up in agony.

That area of my spine simply can't stand contact with anything whatsoever.

I can sit down for long periods on a bar stool, no problem. But a chair or sofa ? Forget about it !

Recently I went to see an acupuncturist and while she was sticking needles in my back and stuff, she told me that the pain may be originating from what she thinks is a distended veterbrae that appeared to be protuding slightly from that area of my spine. Although she wasn't absolutely sure.

Can anyone hazard a guess as to what this problem might be ? Thanks.

Also my sympathies go out to everyone on the forum who's feeling as bad as (or even worse than) i'm feeling right now.
