My name is kezia, I had sex with my now ex boyfriend around april 22. We did not use protection. I wasn't worried about being pregnant until a few days ago. I am not on birth control and I ususal start my period between the 2-6 of the month . This month I didn't have any kind of period until around may 12 and it wasn't a normal period. I barely bleed at all, it wasn't even enough to wear a tampon, just a light pad. I know this sounds nasty but it wasnt normal period blood, it seemed to be darker and a brown color instead of red. I bleed barely like that for only about 3 days and it quit. Should I be worried? Please help

When was your period in april?

Saying you usually start your period btween the 2-6 each month is really inaccurate.

You see day 1 of your cycle is the first day that you bleed.
(the number of days you bleed is likely to vary).
Therefore if you had a 28 day cycle you would have 13 periods in a year.

As an example of a 28 day cycle lets say your period began on 1 march - you would get 2 periods in march because your next one would be on the 29 march.

It sounds like you just had a light period but I would advise taking a test just to know for sure and to put your mind at rest.

Anytime now.

You need to wait until 10-14 days after when you would have conceived (so technically when your period is late). As you had a light period you have already passed that time and so can test anytime.

However, preferrably use the first urine of the morning (tends to be stronger) or wait at least 4 hours before going to the loo and don't drink loads to make you wee as this will dilute the urine.

Follow the instructions in the pack to the letter.

Note: negative tests often turn out to look positive if you go back to htem several hours later. This is why you should read the result after (usually) 3-5 mins.

They look positive after time because the dye leaks/evaporates into the test strip.
