I heard that if you take bc and antibiotics at the same time, the antibiotics reverse the effects of the bc (renderring them useless). My g/f is taking levora and she possibly has the flu or strep and has to take amoxicillin. Should she continue to take the pill, even though the effects mayb reversed/decreased, or should she stop? I know it's not a good idea to just go cold turkey on any type of madication, but i'm just wondering.

Thanks,
jeremy

Yes she needs to still take it as usual!! Then after she is done with the antibiotics it will take 7 full days of birth control use for it to be effective again.

Ps.. The antibiotics do not 'cancel out' birth control..But the hormone amounts are lowered so much that it itis not very effective...
So she will have some hormones in her system, but it's effectiveness it greatly reduced.
