Q: Running/walking Weight Losing Routine.

Hello, I am pretty overweight (5'4 180 lbs) and would like to lose some weight (not become skinny, but definitely become smaller). My first question is, can this be done with by walking and running alone?

If so, how do you know how much to run or walk every day?

Like a schedule, should I be walking for 10 minutes, running for 10, the walking for 10 etc, every other? Every day? Twice a day? Anyone have and suggestions or any resources about this?

I drink only water and the occasional fruit juice (orange or apple) maybe once a week.

I have a bowl or two of cereal for breakfast, sandwhich of some kind for lunch and a decent size meal for dinner (steak, burger, chicken, pasta, whatever), I do not have many snacks throughout the day.

What I am mainly asking for are some suggestions and some direction on how to start to lose some weight specifically a routine on walking or running. Thanks for any help you can give me

Weight loss is calories in/ calories out. You need more calories going out than you do coming in. You can achieve that with watching what you are eating (less portions, counting calories) and exercising to burn more calories.

There are a lot of weight calculators on the internet that will tell you how many calories you need per day to lose weight. Good luck! I hope you get the body of your dreams!
