Q: Am I experiencing an Allergic reaction? Bumps have spread a
asked by: DoctorQuestion on May 17th, 2006
A few days ago I developed a few (2-3) colorless bumps that started itching like crazy on my inner thighs. The itching led to bruising and then the bumps spread to my outer thighs, back (mainly at my scapulas), chest, and a few on my right wrist. There are only a few bumps and aren't really colored. All this scratching is leading to bruising all over my body and nothing seems to be helping. I have had allergies my whole life and have never developed this. I have not changed laundry soap or bath products, eating or exercise habits, so I do not know what this could be. It is affecting my work and sleep. I can't seem to get my mind off the itching and after awhile it feels like I need something sharper to scratch it with. I do not know if this helps, but I recently got over a virual infection and strept throat. As a kid I had asthma and was subjected to smoke, my mom smoked, and I had chronic bronchitis. If you could please help me it would be much appreciated. Thank you for your time and patience.
Crystal

You could be experiencing an allergic exanthema. As reported, you have already had a history of allergies. You can visit a doctorwho may prescribe an anti-histaminic (Loratadine, one tablet before sleeping). If such a prescrption doesn’t help, one injection Dexametasone 4mg can be useful. Allergic exanthema can be provoked by many things: nutrients, infections, cosmetics etc.
