Really Need to Know
Posted: 01-09-04 16:47pm

I am 18 a over the past year I have noticed that whenever I eat starchy foods my body starts to itch all over and breaks out in weps. My mother and grandmother both had diabetes and my mother does experience the same symptoms as I do. I just am not sure if I have it because it happens with starchy foods and not sweets. If anyone has experienced this or has any advice please please let me know. Thank you!!!

It could be a food allergy. It is not uncommon for someone to be allergic to gluten found in foods made with cereals such as wheat, barley and rye. If your mother is diabetic can you monitor your blood sugar? That will quickly rule out diabetes. If your reaction is sever you should see a doctor right away. Otherwise you can avoid eating certain foods to see if the reaction goes away. Best of luck to you.
